Enticed by advertisements for a luxury retirement home in India, a group of strangers leave England to begin a new life.

On arrival, however, they discover the palace is a shell of its former self, the staff are more than a little eccentric and the days of the Raj appear to be long gone.

But, as they soon discover, life and love can begin again, even in the most unexpected circumstances.

I'll mail Moggach's book tomorrow morning before work as I anyway have to go to the "post office" to pick a letter with advice of delivery (saantitodistuskirje) from police. A traffic penalty fee from Somero is waiting as a souvenir from borrowing my mum's car last September.. ;)

Our local post office was shut down 3-4 years ago and the walk to the present postal outlet (asiamiesposti) is 10-15 times longer than it was to the real post office. Postal services get worse - and more expensive - all the time.
