I found this hardcover, with lovely flower-petal-paper endpapers, in this handsome Little Free Library in Manchester NH while dropping off some books of my own. It's a novel inspired by the life of Louisa May Alcott, speculating on a possible romance when she was 22. (She and her family lived in Walpole NH for a couple of years, and the novel is set at that time and place.) The author's notes at the end of the book describe her personal fascination with Alcott, and gave me a lovely look at the kind of deep-diving into original sources and locations that I've experienced myself a time or two.
