Kind of an odd book, in my opinion. The language is beautiful and lyrical in places, but overwritten and just too much in others. The material itself is not quite what I expected - darker, edgier, and more gritty and sexual than I had anticipated.
Not a bad book by any means, but just not quite as satisfying a reading experience as I had hoped given some of the glowing assessments I had heard. I can't say that this is a novel that I would press into anyone's hands, but I probably would not dissuade them from reading it either.
