Has anyone read this? Pope Joan is my book club's February selection and I'm finding myself a little disappointed in the book. The historical aspect is excellent; she really does a great job establishing the time and…

At that age, one of my favorite parts about Surely You're Joking... was the part about safecracking. I think Bill Bryson would be a good one. I read my first Appalachian Trail book in high school.

It was lighter than stuff I usually read, but I liked seeing how the characters evolved. Our book club always picks an "easier" book over the holiday months. It's still a worthy selection, in my opinion. :)

...having experienced a still born child, I thought Lahiri realistically captured the emotions, etc. And believe me, my marriage almost didn't survive the experience. I haven't been that moved by a work of fiction in a…

...and I enjoyed it. This was my first foray into magical realism and I just loved it. I really lost myself in the story. The characters were drawn quite well, although I didn't think Pedro was fleshed out enough. Bu…

...but I think Lucky is far better than The Lovely Bones. I felt The Lovely Bones was a little over-rated. Just my two cents worth. ;)

I saw this on the bargain shelf and I picked it up and put it down at Target. Is this a good book? Well-written and engaging? I'm in a reading rut and I need something to lift me out of it...looking for some feedback,…

Mitch Albom's books are popular with teenagers. I also loved Jonathon Livingston Seagull and other books by Richard Bach. 1984 and Fahrenheit 451 were other favorites.
