Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series (Wolf Brother by Michelle Paver is the first book) is fabulous.
Also the Rangers Apprentice series by John Flanagan, first book title is The Ruins of Gorlan.

and because each book stands alone nicely, I think you could bounce around without difficulty.
Another series for fans of Redwall is the Mistmantle Chronicles. Those I would read in order.

one of my all time favorite books.
I agree that Mister B Gone was not up to his usual quality, and some I didn't like at all - I love a good story but not a gory story. I liked his Imajica books.
