Hi folks, Last night Glasgow Bookcrossers held a meet up at the Starbucks on Buchanan Street. It was a fun meeting with plans to meet up more often and attempt a release walk (in warmer weather!). We plan to hold ano…

Hello all, Been a bit quiet since....well forever. Currently I am moving house and have some Bookcrossing books that are on their last legs. Is the Bookcrossing graveyard/cementary still around? Alternatively I can j…

My friend keeps letting her toddler play with her phone. Two broken phones later and the penny still hasn't dropped. And she really doesn't have the money to spend on getting a new phone every couple of months.

Shockingly it looks to be cheaper to get a flight to Bristol (and a lot quicker!) than to get the train. Also baggage restrictions will avoid temptation to bring back more books!

That's part of the problem. I'm not really sure what purpose my blog is. I have had it for two years and its original purpose was for me to comment on items in the media. Then a friend told me about the Sunday Salon (a w…

I can't honestly pinpoint what attracts me to books. Sometimes it's an author I know; sometimes it's the blurb and (ashamedly) sometimes it's a pretty cover. If someone tells the plot of a film/TV show/book it really ann…

I am halfway through this book and it's my second attempt to read it. I find the A.D. chapters really hard to follow. The heavy vencular dialogue confuses me. Yet I'm really enjoying the chapters set in the contemporary …

The backlight on my iTouch is not working. I have a feeling that it will cost a fair penny to repair (the warranty has expired) so have been looking around for a replacement. I have not been terribly impressed with the s…

I'm always wary of giving plots away in books. I find it really annoying when it happens to me so I can imagine it annoys other people! I try to blog with the Sunday Salon when I can so I shall take some tips on board.

Oooh thanks for the heads up! Have ordered a copy from Amazon. Another thing to distract me from revision ;)

Apologies if this is posted in the wrong place. I'm writing more book reviews on my blog and want to get beyond 'I liked this book'. Does anyone have any review templates or style guides that suit them?

AND IT JUST ENDS! The book does treat the book as an unwanted and irritating prensense which I enjoyed. Until the final chapter *has tantrum*

Next semester I have to write two reports as part of my final assessment. I come from a History/essay writing background and have no idea how to write a good report. Any suggestions? I'd prefer books with a UK focus/rele…

The Borders in Glasgow has a Twitter account. Currently they are posting links to a donation site to buy the staff a drink at their Christmas do. A tad cheeky but understandable too.

Being a shrewd Scot I haven't signed up to the website :) I may try listening to it in bed at night and make it part of my night routine. One way I know it's working - I went out for some drinks tonight and usually I…

My doctor said a similar thing when I asked him about weight loss. He said 'diets' were a waste of time and all you need to lose weight is to eat heathily and exercise. Easier said than done of course ;) I have tried…

I would like to point out the above incidents were the only 2 events when I was 'prevented' from reading a certain book. My mother had no problems with reading her women's magazines to find out about sex and other stuff …

It starts on Monday. On Thursday and half of Friday the timetable simply has 'Student Presentations'. So far, we have not been told the topics yet. Fun....

It is short and I did have to read it a couple of times to learn the techniques. One of them is a calming mechanism and I used it outside of a 'food panic' when I had a job interview. And it worked :)

Hello all, I thought I would get more 'sensible' answers here compared to some of the other message boards I use. At Christmas, I bought Paul McKenna's 'I Can Make You Thin' book along with his 'I Can Help You Sl…

When I was 12 I was reading a book called 'The Baby and Fly Pie' by Melvin Burgess. He tends to write rather gritty teen stuff. One section of the book deals with the narrator realising his sister is a prostitute. My mot…

My mother is a primary school teacher and frequently hears such bad language from children as young as 5. Sad state of affairs.
