Extended Profile
This bookshelf was set up with the idea of distributing used books to disadvantaged kids living in the inner-city of Sydney. Ideally, the kids can select books they want to read, and when they have finished with them, they can return them, keep them or
pass them onto others.
Travellingbooks obtains its stock from households where they are no longer needed, and takes them to kids who might not otherwise have access to books.
All offers of books or any other assistance (contacts for sources of books, creative input and support, ideas, recommendations) always welcome. Just PM me.
Update Jan 2010 - have not had a lot of interest from inner-city NGOs that I have contacted, so am finding new homes for books as I can. Books have gone to bushfire relief collections, a chilc-care centre serving disadvantaged families and the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation for its Share-a-Book Program.
My personal bookshelf is at bookseekerAT
