I've done this for years, before this site was born. Always gave away books on my birthday/visitors. Now have too big of a collection, and become a hermit,... so I will get off The Mountain to find a place to leave books.
My favorites will be under-represented here; as hard to find cheap copies at booksales of Carson, Dickens, Steinbeck, Stegner, Twain, Terkel, Tempest-Williams, Nevada Barr, Hiaasen, Wendall Berry, and about 50 more---particularly nature/eco writing.
I believe in wild releases; and look for you chroniclers who tell something about yourself, while enlightening about your releases!
Personally saddened that too many folks use this for book trading, NOT releasing nor JOURNALING own thoughts!
Pleased of the universitality of the site. Wonderful bios of fascinating people reside in BookCrossing. If not neighbors on the land, at least in the heart. ? ?
