I am a life long reader. Since the age of six when I discovered I could read for myself books that had been read to me, I had a passion for reading. A library was a refuge for me, and librarians were my friends and mentors. The first library where I had a card was in San Bruno, CA. It was in a small store front with one librarian and not a lot of books, but enough for me to go every week and take out three more books that I read in a week. That has been a pattern of my reading throughout my long life, and my fear is that I will lose my sight. I have Macular Degeneration in one eye which causes blurring, and though I can easily drive and function without glasses I need reading glasses. I buy my books from Amazon and from Alibris where out of print and used books are available..Currently I am reading the Doris Kearns Goodwin's book "Team of Rivals" telling the political history and backgrounds of Lincoln and the members of his cabinet who had vigorously opposed him. Also read this week was Phillipa Gregory's book "The Virgin's Lover" which is a historical novel about the first two years of the reign of Elizabeth I...
