Spread the Word Nevada is a nonprofit corporation whose motto is "Nevadans Helping Nevada". Established in February 2001, our primary emphasis has been on our children's literacy project, "Kids to Kids". The purpose of this program is to collect new and gently used children's books. We clean, repair, sort, and distribute them to low income preschool through fifth grade students to create keep-at-home libraries. We are thrilled to know that these libraries are shared with siblings, read together as a family, and read over and over again by the children who selected them. We even have learned that youngsters are teaching their parents to read and to speak English through the Kids to Kids books. To date we have distributed nearly 1,500,000 books to 165,000 children.
