Extended Profile
This whole site is new to me and was referred to me by my daughter, whom I might add is an avid bibliophile. She definitely got that from me and not her father. LOL! That wasn't nice, I apologize! I always made sure that there were books, magazines and
all sort of reading materials to choose from around the house from the time my kids were born. They even "teethed" on books. I am a firm believer that this is the way we teach our children to appreciate the written word and to use their minds and imaginations.
The traditions of oral story telling and passing along a culture's history are wonderful, but there is something so special about holding a book in your hand and reading those words. Sometimes one of my greatest joys is to just look at my little bookcase and
remember the words that have served to inspire me. I don't keep every book anymore. I am 66 years old and not in the best of health, and I am not a believer that whoever has the most of any materialistic thing is the winner. It is what you did with those things
and the legacy that you pass along. I am retaining and trying to collect the books that my grandchildren can learn a different perspective on life from. I am blessed to have 5 grandchildren and who knows maybe someday I will have some great grandkids! I make
it a point to give books as presents and just whenever I see one that makes me think of that person..it can even be the clerk I just met and talked with for a few minutes or someone close. I want to promote an interest in reading and opening up
the scope of all peoples life view. Let's all enjoy this journey called life and help to pass along some of the joys therein.
