I remember long winter nights growing up in Northwestern Pennsylvania and laying next to my Dad in bed while he read (mostly books on the U.S. Civil War). I remember telling my Dad that I didn't really like to read and him saying "some day you will", and me quickly responding "no, I don't think so". Well, like many other things, he was right. Now I find myself just wishing I had more quiet times where I could curl up with a good book......and hoping that my kids will be readers too.

My favorite kinds of books are biographies, American History books, especially Civil War, Revolutionary War, and railroads. I also enjoy books about baseball, the outdoors, camping, hiking, traveling, etc. My profession is transportation engineering/transportation planning so I also like books about politics, transportation, suburban sprawl, planning, the environment, etc.
