As one might judge from my BC nickname, I'm a voracious reader! I always have a book going, carry a book everywhere, and hurriedly get tasks out of the way in order to get back to reading!

I love sharing the excitement of a really good read with someone else. And I enjoy a sense of pride and validation when a book I felt was particularly noteworthy is chosen to be made into a movie. (Even though the movie version rarely measures up to one's own sense of the book!)

I've made it a lifelong practice to pass along my books. The first time I returned a library book, I turned in one of my own books as well! Most of my books have been matched up with friends, others have gone to booktraders. (Once, before a cross-country move, I left a bag of books outside the closed shop of a booktrader, with an impassioned note tucked inside expressing my hopes that all the books would find good new homes.) I've often left books for others to enjoy in waiting rooms or customer service lounges. I think BookCrossing.com is a great idea!
