I grew up in the south, but live in western Oregon. I'm the author of two novels: Pretty Is As Pretty Does (MacAdam/Cage 2001) which was a Barnes and Noble Discover Great New Writers and BookSense selection and Twenty Questions (Atria, 2006)an Oregon Book Award finalist. My work has been published in The Sun, The Alaska Quarterly Review, and High Country News. I've worked as a waitress, bartender and fruit picker. For the past ten years I've worked as a librarian in a bilingual elementary school. I'm the building rep for my union, an advocate for immigrants, am working on the Edwards campaign, have a pit bull named Riley and a pit bull blog (peteywasapitbull.blogspot.com) practice yoga, ride my bike, write novels, watch movies, work for peace, study Spanish, and read every day.
