One of my favorite websites is Project Gutenberg. They are one of the oldest
providers of free ebooks. All their books are scanned and proofread by volunteers
who work at distributed proofreaders.
Another organization that works on the same concept is USGENWEB - their website
is run by volunteers who transcribe and share genealogy information online.
