Extended Profile
I'm a non-profit CEO (not as impressive as it sounds--I have three employees and about a dozen volunteers) in a small Southern town. I'm married but without children. If I want to hear the pitter-patter of little feet, I'll put shoes on the cat...
While I'm a big fan of horror novels, thrillers, and well-written mysteries in general, my favorite fiction is ghost stories in the 19th century English tradition and "pagan cult" horror (Thomas Tryon, Phil Rickman, etc.). I also like well-written non-fiction that focuses on American cultural studies (Neil Postman, for instance) and mythology/fairy tales/religious studies (Joseph Campbell is a favorite) My M.A. thesis was on children's horror films, and I'm an enthusiastic collector of "cute horror" items (Nightmare Before Christmas, Aaah! Real Monsters, Edward Gorey, etc.)
Think of me as what would happen if Wednesday Addams grew up and got a little money. :-)
