Growing up in a small country town meant that books were my window to the world. It allowed me to realise there were more places to go , things to see and career paths to follow than I could ever have been exposed to in such a small town. Thank the Lord
for public libraries!
I think reading to your children and providing them books that stretch their perceptions of the world is one of the most wonderful things you can do! To this day I classify one of the crowning moments of my life as the euphoric feeling of reading "Now we are ten" when I was seven. I have a special link with one of my Godson's because of the book "Guess How Much I Love You" - we always finish our phone calls with "I love you to the moon and back".
I'm still thrilled I married a man who reads as much as I do. There's nothing like sitting up in bed reading by lamp light, lying together in a park on a sunny day engrossed in our novels or curled up in seperate arm chairs reading our way through the Sunday papers on a winter afternoon together. We may not always agree on the others opinion of a book, but it's so nice to have someone to discuss them with.
This year I am on a mission to try to steer myself away from autobiographies and read some lighter fiction (other than my guilty pleasure of Mills and Boon... shhh!). So far I'm doing OK.
I look forward to meeting new people here and sharing my favorite books around.
