I love books and I love to read. Because of that, I have far more books than I have room to keep. When I heard the NPR piece on BookCrossing, I immediately knew that this would not only be the perfect solution to my storage problem, but might also help ease that horrid separation anxiety I feel at the mere thought of getting rid of any of my paper "friends." I plan to start small, just easing into this release thing by carrying around a half dozen or so paperbacks in the back of my car and dropping one off whenever I stop at interesting locations like the grocery store or the park bench outside the local post office. I'm so looking forward to following their trail and seeing how far they get. With a little luck they may even turn up in the hands of someone who will enjoy them as much I have and in turn pass them along to someone else.
As to me, I'm a 50 year-old single parent of an elderly Tonkinese named Cocoa, a cockatiel named Uncle Izzie, and three fish named Red, Fred, and Jan. I work for the State in a position where I am allowed to let my natural anal-retentiveness run free. When I'm not working or reading, I enjoy watching a little TV, listening to NPR, cooking, doing needlecrafts, and wandering around craft fairs, flea markets, and antique shops.
