Extended Profile
Hi! Thank you for visiting my bookshelf. Hope you find something you like!
May 13, 2018
About Me
I am an ordinary girl in the midwest. I am a student at Southwest Missouri State University. I am studying to be an elementary teacher, but I also love taking classes in theater, and history, so I might like to work on stage or in a museum.
I love the things I discover in books. My favorite reads are mostly fiction, but I also like nonfiction. My largest nonfiction collections are about the Titanic, U.S. Presidents and their wives, and Civil War era stuff. I typically read whatever interests me at the time.
I also love sprts crafts and games. I am a homebody and prefer to spend time at home with my family over spending the night out on the town clubbin' as my friends call it. I also love animals.
My BookCrossing Philosophy
I joined to share books. I probably trade books faster than I read them, but I still love the whole concept of sharing a book across the miles or across time with someone I have never met.
If you see a book on my shelf that you would like to read I hope you ask for it! Include your address with your request because I love doing RABCK! If I ask you for a trade then that only means I've found a friend in you and I'd love to receive one of your books.
Libraries are wonderful places, but BookCrossing adds a touch of magic to booksharing that libraries don't provide. I believe BookCrossers should be active in supporting the local libraries. I also believe libraries should embrace bookcrossing and support their efforts as well. Libraries make FANTASTIC crossing zones I think! I leave many of my Wild Releases on the FREE BOOKS table at my local library.
I like going to meetups as well. If you don't go to meetups then you can't support the other bookcrossers in your community. Meetups are not only places to find good reads and make like-minded friends, meetups generate a sort of healing and support group in other areas of life as well.
My Causes
Habitat for Humanity is one of my favorite organizations. Now more than ever people need homes and support. Recent natural disasters have wiped out thousands of homes along the gulf coast and Florida. Earthquakes, flooding, tsunamis, and fires have destroyed lives around the globe. HFH helps support these causes. My local chapter is below. Please consider making a donation.
