Thanks for stopping by :)

A bit about me: formerly of Sydney, Australia, I've moved to Chiang Mai, Thailand, to teach for a couple of years. This bookshelf is a shambles, but so is my life at the moment... a current state of happy chaos. Enjoy!

I'm starting up an international bookring for The Inheritance of Loss. Surface will be fine.

I'm a member of the 1001-library. However, I'm in a different country to my books at the moment (Australia). So if there's something you're desperately after, please be patient with me.

I'm taking part in the Set it Yourself Challenge, a brilliant idea initiated by mrsgaskell. Currently I've read 175 of the original 1001 list (and 151 of the 2008 edition and 152 of the 2010 edition).

Please note - all my 'Wild releases' are truly wild... I don't tend to wild release very often because as a high-school English teacher I always have a captive audience for my books! - and I prefer to release only those books which I've read, making it a loooong while between wild releases.

Other news:
* I'm starting to fall off the bookring/ray ban-wagon. (See notice below.) The one year ban did my bank balance a lot of good & I've been able to splash out a bit more. That, and go to the theatre. Favourites in 2008: A Midsummer Night's Dream (Tim Supple's production, Wharf2Loud's production of Frankenstein, and Hamlet (Bell Shakespeare: review and article).

My name is Miss-Owl, and I am a bookring addict...

so from today, I'm going to kick the habit. You can assist me (please!) by not asking me to join any more rings or rays. Mount Toobie is looming large & the bank balance looking small :) Thanks!

Quote for the day (or at least as long as it takes me to update this):

The moment my attention wanders from the settled order of the written lines to the movable complexity no sentence is able to hold entirely, I come close to understanding that on the other side of the words there is something words could mean.

~ Italo Calvino
