I wish I was a Lady of Leisure because then I could read many hours of the day. But, alas, alack, I am unable to be one.
I am an educator here in Harrisburg, Pensylvania and I try to instill my love of books and reading in my students on a daily basis. Each child in my room reads a leveled book of their choice for at least 30 minutes per day. Leveled books are part of a program called the 100 Book Challenge that is in place in the Harrisburg School District. A child reads to the teacher to find a book where he or she is comfortable reading. It isn't too easy nor is it too hard. It's like the Goldilocks theory of just right. In addition to the 30 minutes daily, all children are to read when they have completed segments of their work throughout the day.
Besides being an avid reader, I am a mother of 5 and grandmother of 6. I enjoy walking, swimming, magic, motorcycle riding, singing, dancing, cooking, playing with my dog, appropriately named Harley, historical sites, movies, concerts, discovering new places, and the Renaissance era. My particular area in the Renaissance is the Elizabethan era. I also enjoy collecting castles, wizards, swords, models, and beer glasses.
