Extended Profile
I read voraciously, perhaps even compulsively. Nothing is off-limits for my roving eye! I devour the written word on everything from cereal boxes to street signs to books to mags to the small print on contracts. Who knows what I'll be reading next?
I read, therefore I am!
It is safe to say that reading defines me. Sure, I do other things, too. I kayak, hike, camp, skijor, snowboard, dive and swim with my dogs. Cooking is relaxing and gardening is my zen-mind escape, though cleaning is my most hated occupation. With all those books currently-being-read-all-at-once lying haphazardly about the house and yard, piles of dirty dishes in the sink and enough pet hair in the corners to knit a new dog every week makes for a messy, but well-lived-in house.
Talking with other lovers of the written word is a joy and I am excited about this venue for discussion and sharing. I routinely sell used books that didn't capture my imagination (though, judging from the bulging bookshelves in my house the average visitor might doubt that I ever discard any books). However, there is a sub-class of books that are too good to just sell but that I don't feel a primitive urge to own for eternity. That's where bookcrossing comes in! This allows me to share those great books with others AND hear what they have to say about them. I can hardly wait for whoever found my first released book to add it to this tracking database! Please, please, please, whoever finds it - enter your notes and release it for others, too!!!!
I'm releasing a pile of romance novels into the wild. The local used bookstore is glutted with romances and I am never going to have the yard sale I keep talking about, so these are the first out of the nest. Soon, there will be more!!!
