Extended Profile
The Fokestone Literary Festival is, in 2005, in its fourth year and continues this idyllic seaside town's 25 year tradition of staging literary festivals. The 2005 festival is bigger and better than ever, with a wide variety of events and writers including
Joanna Lumley, David Starkey, Penny Vincenzi, Loius de Bernières and Jo Brand. With talks and tours, and favourites such as The Festival Debate and Children’s Day, exciting new events on offer include the Schools Masterclass, with inaugural speaker Germaine
Greer, Maritime Day and New Writing Day. In particular, we are launching the Festival Read, including book-crossing the chosen novel, in its centenary year, 'Kipps', one of H G Wells' funniest books, a satire on English class, the basis for the celebrated
musical 'Half a Sixpence', and most importantly, set in Folkestone!
