I heard about bookcrossing a few years ago, and always hoped I would find a "Free book" in my travels. Then I heard Radio 2 talking about it for World Book Day, and I decided to check it out. Intrigued, I joined up in March 2005, along with my daughter, and then registered my first few books.

I didn't do much else after that until I received an offer from another BCer to swap some books. This got me going again, and my daughter and I decided to release a few books. What a great buzz to receive your first Journal Entries.

I'm quite happy to share my AVL books, and even my TBRs (but please don't be offended if your request is refused). However, I like to see my books journey freely, so I prefer to send to Bookcrossers which are currently active.

As for the books I like, I have always liked Science Fiction. My favourite authors in this genre are Isaac Asimov, John Wyndham, Larry Niven, Frank Herbert, Arthur C Clark. I'm not too keen on general Fantasy, but I loved The Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit. And I love Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels, which I would prefer to classify as Literature or Humour rather than Fantasy. I do also read books in other genres, one of my favourites recently has been "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime".
