Extended Profile
I'm a SAHM of a 4 yo DS, and a 19 yo DD. DH is an engineer and recently diagnosed with diabetes and high cholesterol. So, recent reading has included lots of articles, books, and recipes related to those two items.

I recently started an on-line business, Let's Play Restaurant!, selling restaurant-themed dress-up kits for children. So, my other recent reading has included articles, blogs and forums on starting, promoting, and maintaining a web-based business.

In terms of my reading interests, I am particularly interested in Modern American history, Medieval European History, Science Fiction (but not post-Apocolyptic), murder mysteries, and scrapbooking.

Some of my favorite authors include Colleen McCullough (the Ceasar series), Guy Gavriel Kay, Orson Scott Card (SF, not fantasy), Antonia Fraser and Isaac Asimov. In the past I have devoured John D. MacDonald (especially the Travis McGee series), Ross MacDonald, the Perry Mason books, Agatha Christie, Sherlock Holmes, Loiusa May Alcott, Diana Gabaldon, Robert Asprin's Myth and Phule series, Alfred Hitchcock anthologies, Douglas Adams and Ernest Hemingway (except Old Man and the Sea--uggh!).

I am a fast reader and can "down" an historical romance at the rate of almost 100 pages an hour. On the other hand, I recently read Poul Anderson's "Starfarers" that was such HARD science, science fiction that it took me weeks to read it (fascinating, but NOT light reading!).

DS and I enjoy a good children's book, as well. He loves anything to do with trains, but also such classics as Little Bear, Where the Wild Things Are, Rainbow Fish, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, and Goodnight Moon. I look forward to the time when I can share books like "A Door in the Wall" and the Harry Potter books with him.
