Extended Profile
9/28/04 update:
I was inactive in Bookscrossing for about a year, busy with projects that I work on mostly from home. I've been releasing fairly regularly again for a month of so and am planning to do the October challenge in which you release books with names in the title.
WHAT I DO: I worked in educational software as a curriculum specialist, designer, etc. for 19 years. I am currently on an extended "vacation" due to my lay off in June of 2002. I've been pretty happily busy, however, with travelling, reading, playing trumpet, taking an art class, cooking, getting in my kids' way, and freelancing.
WHAT I'M READING: I am finally reading Diana Gabaldon's book, THE FIERY CROSS.
RECENT READS: THE TIME TRAVELLER'S WIFE (WoW!); THREE JUNES (Excellent!); HANNAH'S DAUGHTERS (Highly recommended!) CALCUTTA CHROMOSOME (Crazy and provocative!) You can see I've had good fiction karma lately.
WHAT I'M PLANNING TO READ: After seeing TROY this summer, I thought I'd give THE ILIAD and THE ODYSSEY another shot.
OTHER NOTES ABOUT MY READING HABITS: I must say that I enjoy mysteries and books that fall into the general category called "literature." I am a great fan of Ian Rankin, a Scottish mystery writer. He doesn't write them fast enough to keep me happy, though. Another Scottish writer I like is Neil Gunn. His books are not mysteries although they are mysterious. I like books in which the setting is a character. And finally, I think that MRS. DALLOWAY is my all time favorite book. THE ALL OF IT by Jeanette Hain comes in a close second.
