Extended Profile
Welcome to my bookshelf! My bookcrossing life began in autumn 2005, thanks to harmaja, and I totally got hooked to this global common library. Organising and participating challenges is one my greatest bookcrossing passions.
Finnish bookcrossers illustrated me with following words which were derived from the letters in my BC-name (I'm sorry, you Finnish-disabled people, you won't get this):
Alcotteineen Hartaasti Asanaan Vääntyvä Aktiivi
The woman in the icon above is St. Xenia of Petersburg, one of my favourite saints.
Besides reading and bookcrossing, I
- study literature ad theology in the university of Helsinki
- hold a special soft spot in my heart for the Orthodox church and early Christian tradition
- am a fanatic art lover: no play, exhibition or concert can hide from my cultural eye
- try to do my yoga exercises - or asanas, as they are called - as regularly as possible
- dream of a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela and The Meteora Abbey in Greece
- am interested in ecumenism and mysticism
- consider myself as a liberal Christian
- am involved in Finnish Fair Trade Organisation
- work voluntarily with disabled people
My wishlist:
1) Topics and genres I'm interested in:
literature on more or less gay/lesbian/bi/trans/queer themes
girl literature
children's literature
theology (not only Christian theology)
art history and architecture
yoga
gender studies
postcolonialism
Middle Ages
comparative literature
fiction and nonfiction on physical and mental disabilities
history of the British Isles
2) Books and authors:
Judith Butler: Gender Trouble & Bodies that matter
Susan Vreeland
Simon Schama
Tiia Aarnipuu: Trans - sukupuolen muunnelmia
Marja-Liisa Vartio: Se on sitten kevät & Kaikki naiset näkevät unia & Häät & Seppele & Maan ja taivaan välissä
Kallistos Ware
Paulos Mar Gregorios
Olga Tokarczuk
Sofi Oksanen: Puhdistus
Äänekäs kevät. Ekokriittinen kirjallisuudentutkimus (toim. Toni Lahtinen ja Markku Lehtimäki)
Nostalgia. Kirjoituksia kaipuusta, ikävästä ja muistista. (toim. Riikka Rossi ja Katja Seutu)
Päivi Setälä: Antiikin nainen & Keskiajan nainen & Renessanssin nainen & Pohjoisen renessanssin nainen
Richard Dawkins: The God Delusion
Jhumpa Lahiri: The Unaccustomed Earth

What kind of bookcrosser are you
Your Result: Obsessive releaser
You release, release, release. Discretion is not your middlename anymore. Buying grocery's, going to the dentist, a sunny day in the park, on holiday; every step you take, you take a book to go with you to be released. |
