In scenes alive with emotional truth, this novel brings to life an entire community - the Georgetown neighbourhood of Washington, D.C., circa 1925 - as it weighs the effect of a young girl's tragic death on the people she has left behind.
Bit of a strange ending to this and at times the writing drifted into obscurity, but overall quite well written.
