I would place this in my top ten reads ever. I was thouroughly enchanted by this book. It was incredibly rich and beautiful, moving and illuminating...I highly recommend this book to anyone.
From the publisher:
"On San Piedro, an island of rugged, spectacular beauty in Puget Sound, a Japanese-American fisherman stands trial for murder. Set in 1954 in the shadow of World War II, Snow Falling on Cedars is a beautifully crafted courtroom drama, love story, and war novel, illuminating the psychology of a community, the ambiguities of justice, the racism that persists even between neighbors, and the necessity of individual moral action despite the indifference of nature and circumstance."

Mailing off to luv2sewtjr...enjoy!

I just got this book. I'm not quite ready for a heavy read, but I'll get to it soon. I've been meaning to read this book for a long time.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I pulled this book off my shelf almost exactly seven years after receiving it.
This was an absolutely wonderful story and I am sorry that I didn't read it sooner. The characters and setting are all beautifully written and I especially love his attention to island life as well. While I found the entire book quite engaging, the second half was absolutely riveting...right up to the last page.
I am passing this book along before it gets wild released on my favorite island. It will probably make a stop in Ohio and Maryland before then.
Many, many thanks for sharing this book with me, fanclub.
