As always, Alexander McCall Smith has written another fantastic story with his latest installment of The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency, "The Saturday Big Tent Wedding Party." As I was reading this latest installement, I really thought about why I love this series so much, especially since it is a huge departure from the more depressing books that I tend to favor...the biggest reason? Smith manages to write characters that are just so loveable. They are flawed and real, but they also feel like people that you would want to invite to dinner.
The series actually makes me think of "Little House on The Prarie"..which I love! Each story has a good moral and a sweetness to it. The books just make me feel happy when I am reading them. They also manage to be sweet, without being trite or feeling fake. I think this is a hard line to walk on and Smith makes it work every time.
