Read July 2008.
This was a very enjoyable romp through time from Denmark to London and back again. Very funny, with lots of fairy-tale in-jokes (the little match girl made me laugh out loud). And a love story (although Fergus was not particularly well fleshed out, it didn’t matter). It was nice to read a novel with illustrations too. Some great characters – I particularly liked Fru Schleswig and loved the way she spoke. I enjoyed the mobile phones that got a signal even in 19th century Denmark – even if it was only from the bottom of the garden! Great fun!
