I saw the author's lecture on C-SPAN and was rivited. Bought the book and wan't at all disapointed.
The story of the Lincoln assasination and the hunt for John Wilkes Booth as well as the aftermath and trial. The "reads like a novel" description would be apt, as there is much detail from Swanson's pen that makes the story seem fresh and immediate.
I had heard for a number of years that the book had ben optioned to Hollywood for a major motion picture and we just saw the trailer a couple of weeks ago. Looks like it is going to be a movie, although from the trailer, you would think that the movie is going to be entirely about Mary Surratt. But then again, you never can tell what a movie is really gong to be like by watching thee trailer.
I once heard an author interviewed and she did say, "When you sell you book to Hollywood, the last creative act you perform is to endorse the check."
Enjoy.
Good Luck and Best Wishes.
