This book consisted of a series of articles by Wright and as such I found it very variable in terms of interest and enjoyment. There were some fascinating chapters (Mad dogs and lawyers, Not much war but plenty of hell, for instance) and the piece on the porn industry was, um, informative! But I found the chapters on specific people less interesting (maybe I needed to be American to know who they were) and some did tend to go on a bit. I could happily learn much more about the troops in Afghanistan, or the UFC, for example, but would prefer to know less about Wingnut and his fellow anarchists and after reading the chapter devoted to Jim Greco, skateboarder and drunkard, I really wish I had never heard of him! All this made for a patchy book, but the good bits were good enough to get it a 7 and allow me to ignore the less interesting bits :-)
