A relative introduced me to Pauline McLynn (aka Mrs Doyle of Father Ted fame in another lifetime!) when she gave me The Woman on the Bus which I thoroughly enjoyed. I've since read and enjoyed a couple more of her novels, so was pleased to find yet another one in a charity shop in Boroughbridge this afternoon. They're the sort of easy and amusing stories with pleasant characters that keep you company when you don't want to tax the brain cells!

Amazon Editorial Review: "When Leo Street is employed to spy on a politician's supposedly cheating wife, she must masquerade as a member of a cookery course in County Kildare. As she strips away layers of marital infidelities - not to mention other scandals - she also has to battle with bread-making and beef Wellington."

21.4.11: I've just discovered that this is the first in a series which continues with Better Than a Rest and Right on Time.

Chick-lit meets cosy mystery in this highly amusing tale of scandal and secrets uncovered at a weekend cookery school in Kildare. Leo Street, a Dublin-based private investigator who celebrates her 30th birthday in the first chapter, is an entertaining narrator (shame about the language!). I look forward to meeting her, her family, friends and clients again :-) The dog is a bonus, quite a character!
