A wonderfully written book which incorporates a bit of mystery to a moving tale of morality in a somewhat futuristic sense. Once you read it you will understand that sentence (I hope). It was an enjoyable read and my first by this author. I enjoyed his writting style and his ability to create the world his characters live in. Looking forward to all the journal entries to come.

Thanks! I absolutely can't wait to get to this one. I've been reading the books from the 1001 BYMRBYD list and and sci-fi is one of my favorite genres.

Journal Entry 4 by jsmeltser at Fort Madison, Iowa USA on Monday, December 1, 2014
I just read my original journal entry for this one and had to chuckle to myself. I was in an accident about a month after that entry and couldn't read anything longer than a newspaper article for a couple of months...needless to say, my reading was slowed considerably and this book found a home on my shelf until this week. This was an absolutely fabulous, well written story. As dvg said, the first half of the book leaves you wondering just what is going on, and as it begins to dawn on you, you hope that you're wrong.

I too look forward to reading more of Ishiguro's work.

This will go in my next 1001 Bookbox
