One of my bookcrossing-phobic friends recently borrowed this book, and both she and her boyfriend loved it. She gives it a 9 out of 10. "It's not great literature and it didn't change my life, but it was a really good read. I couldn't put it down," she commented, "and it talked about alot of ideas I think all the time, but I don't hear much about."

There was a real lull in the middle of this book; for a while it almost lost me. I'm glad I hung in there. The plot got a little contorted at the end; I read quite a few negative reviews from people who hated the ending. Despite its flaws, I liked the ending. I enjoyed the dark mysterious mood, and the apocalyptic visions. Like some of the characters in the book, part of me wants to see the end of the world as we know it: just so we could start with a clean slate and create the world we want, already! Copeland's message seems to be that I shouldn't wait for the world to end; I should just get going! Despite his somewhat clumsy presentation, this message was welcome with me.
