I first discovered Catherine Coulter as a romance writer. Then my mom turned me on to her "FBI Thriller" series. She's also got a couple of other mainstream books, and this is one of them. If it's not her first book, then at least it's an early one. She updated it for this paperback release, but it's still not quite as good as her current FBI Thrillers.

Still, it's a darn good book. Coulter knows how to keep us reading. Her characters are not cardboard cutouts, and there's plenty of action and suspense. In this book, Lindsay Foxe is running from an abusive past. Her father and half sister always hated her and belittled her. Her half sister's husband raped her. She finally becomes a model and changes her name to leave the past behind. But the past catches up with her, as it always does, and she ends up with an ex-cop (whose life has been entwined with hers) protecting her from an unknown threat.

My mom often buys the same book twice (as I do, too)because she sees it in a used bookstore and thinks "that looks good," not remembering that out of the huge amount she reads, she's already read that one. Well, she gave me two copies of this book, so I thought I might as well release another one.
