Something to Declare: Essays (bookring)

An excellent collection of essays from one of my favorite authors. These are autobiographical essays, many of which answer questions that readers have asked Alvarez about her writing and her life. A great read for anyone, especially for any aspiring writers out there.

Just received today! I'll start this as soon as I finish the book I'm reading now for another bookring... =)

Just finished... It was a very good book! I really enjoyed the stories relating to her childhood. =)
I'd also recommend When I Was Puerto Rican and Almost a Woman by Esmeralda Santiago. She has a wonderfully entertaining writing style!

I really enjoyed this book of essays! I had already read How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents by this author and have Yo! on my TBR list.

Received this today and will be reading it alongside some fiction, thats how I always read non-fiction, memoirs etc... I can't just sit down and read a whole non-ficiton book without interrupting with a little fiction for escape....
Finally finished this, sorry to have kept it so long, I just couldn't seem to find the time to read it, definitely going to be decreasing the amount of bookrings I sign up for, too much stress trying to get them read in a timely manner. thanks for sharing this illinicheme.
A good read, would have been better if I could have sat down and devoted a full day or two to reading it all at once.
