Well, I FINALLY got this book journaled. This is a substitute for the ring book that dropped off the face of the earth along with it's first reader. It was the kindness of Minerswifebb who made the continuation of this ring possible. Thanks so much minerswifebb for helping out our bookring. I really appreciate it :)

DESCRIPTION IN BOOK: Their plane crashed high in the Andes. Their only shelter was the plane's shattered fuselage, their only supplies a little wine and some bits of candy. In the beginning, there were thirty-two survivors. Then, only twenty-seven; then, nineteen ... and, in the end, sixteen.
This is their story -- the greatest modern epic of catastrophe and human endurance.

Arrived safely in Alabama. Will journal again when read. Thanks, Wicked!
Hmm. An interesting book. Amazing what these young men went through and still were able to survive. It seemed to be a very frank retelling, with interesting insights into the different characters who survived.
This book's off to Finland as soon as I can get to the post office.
Thanks, Wicked, for sharing!

In mail today to Finland. Air mail was reasonably priced, so sent that way... in theory it should be there in a week.
Thanks, Wicked, for sharing AND for moving the list for the ring to this journal. Will be a lot easier to keep it moving!

It is remarkable what people are able to endure and still survive. I read about this accident and about those who were found alive in the papers at the time but never really thought about the extreme actions they had to take while on the mountains. It was very hard both physically and mentally. I was very sorry about the second accident they had. In my mind one was more than enough. But my opinion was not asked any more than anybody else's.
I am sending the book to Klute in Germany next week.
I am sending the book to Klute in Germany next week.
Klute asked to be exluded this time. I'll send the book to PenelopePitstop instead.
Arrived today, will start it immediately :-)
A very interesting story. The author was able to describe everything in a very objective way.
I liked the description about the group dynamics among the survivors, about the differences in their behaviour in the normal life and in the life in the Andes.
The book is travelling to Miss-R because luckaye asked to be skipped.

Arrived in the post yesterday, looks interesting, will read as soon as I can. Thanks for sending it!
Very interesting, but, as was the complaint from the survivors, I didn't feel that their friendship was shown as well as it could have been. Also, the decision to eat the bodies of their friends, once taken, seemed to not be a problem any more, which I'm sure wasn't the case.

Finished this book last night.
I really liked this book. I saw the movie, but it's not the same.
I can't image what these poor "boys" went through.
going to pass on to the next person in the ring

Just heard back from CrazyPooka that they have it safe and sound. Thanks goodness. Just awaiting a journal entry and release.
Yep, I'm sorry that I've had this so long. The postcards are safe and sound. I've felt like these guys a few times this year. Not necessarily in such harrowing circumstances, but the desperation and struggles. It was good to put faces to the story. I talk to my mom about it, and she joked--if ever in a situation like this the party is free to eat her. I've got dibs on the left arm! heheh.
