Orlando: A Biography

If "The Hours" is your only experience with Virgina Woolf, then you'll be kind of surprised by "Orlando"--It's a comedy. I had some trouble understanding all of the book, but here's the overarching theme. It's a fantasy story about a character, Orlando, who travels through time and changes gender along the way. He/she also meets many famous historical figures.
It's dedicated to Woolf's lover, Vita Sackville-West, and there are lots of in-jokes regarding her in the book.
It's definently fun to read, if hard to understand.
I read this for a womens' studies class, so it's been dog-eared and annotated.
Note: Cover is different than one on the web.
