Journal Entry 1 by Urbis from Manchester, Greater Manchester United Kingdom on Tuesday, August 12, 2003
On Saturday 16 August 2003, Urbis released hundreds of books into the streets of Manchester, UK. Urbis placed books in locations across the city in shops, cafes, pubs, phone boxes, on park benches, at bus stops and in train stations. We even enlisted the help of Manchester’s black cab drivers and First Northwest trains to place books on public transport, taking them on a journey beyond the city’s boundaries ready to be discovered by curious travellers.

Journal Entry 2 by 166 from Manchester, Greater Manchester United Kingdom on Sunday, August 17, 2003
I have just recieved the book. I found in at the Beacon of Hope in Sackville Park, Manchester yesterday the 16th August 2003. It was during preparation for the Manchester Europride 2003 Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered Family Picnic in Sacville Park.
I started reading the book last night and will complete it and then pass the book on to someone. I showed the book to a few people and told them about the scheme as I had seen it on the local news station. One comment though, the book wasn't in large print which would have been useful for the visually impaired.
