Tolkien's magical world of the earth before human domination comes to life through his extrodinary talent as a raconteur. As you read it, Bilbo's experience becomes your own. From the depths of an orc infested mountain, to battling treasure hoarding dragons, there is never a dull moment. Tolkien weaves his own unique tapestry of an old world's culture so believably, you have no choice but to become pulled in. This is one of my favorite books, it gets better every time I read it!
