This book is being registered in memory of my daughter, who was tragically killed on 30 Aug. 2010. She enjoyed this book when I read it to her a few years ago, and loved the movie!

Released 13 yrs ago (2/1/2011 UTC) at Steamboat Ski Resort in Steamboat Springs, Colorado USA

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

My daughter would have turned 10 this month, so this book is being released as a memorial to her life. She loved our ski trips to Steamboat, and the cold weather today made it a perfect day to release this book, where Narnia is trapped in a perpetual winter.

Left on a bench on the lowest level at the Rendezvous Saddle lodge.

Oh my goodness, how ironic that this book came all the way from Alexandria, Virginia to Steamboat Springs, Colorado to be found the same day as its release by our oldest daughter, 12, and our family from Chantilly, Virginia. We too love Steamboat and this is our third trip here with our three children. We suffered through a bitterly cold day to enjoy our last day on the slopes before heading home. Leaving the Saddle after warming up, we were excited to find this book and look up its history online. We are so sorry to see it is in the memory of a child whose life was cut tragically short. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

We have a 7 am flight home tomorrow so we are taking it back to Virginia to read and release to continue sending Becky's love around the world.

I was trying to keep my 11-month old son entertained while his Daddy surfed at Strathmere, when we stumbled upon our first discovery: the Schiavo Memorial Public Library. We were having fun looking at books and toys when he started to get fussy, so I walked him around the library in my arms. It wasn't working so well, and I was just about to bail on the peace and quiet of the library when I spied out second discovery: a copy of my childhood favorite... The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, with a note saying it was free! Ne'er one to pass up on a free book, I had to grab it. That is when I came across my third discovery: BookCrossing.com. What a cool idea! I saw the picture of adorable little Becky and felt my heart break at the realization that this book was released in her memory. I knew I had to grab it an take it with me, so my husband and I could read it to our son. Of course, he is too little to understand, but on our drive back to Philly last night we got through four riveting chapters already! Can't wait to finish and pass it along :)
