One of the very classic Connellys. This one is without Bosch; it has Jack McEvoy instead. He's a criminal reporter, whose twin brother made a suicide. Or so everyone thought, Jack included. Until some small details don't seem to match, and Jack ends up finding that there were a bunch of other police detectives in the country whose suicides were very similar to his in the past few years. In all of the cases the suicide note was a line of a poem by Edgar Allan Poe, and the suicide methods were similar too. Jack manages to get the FBI with the fabulous Rachel Walling to help in the search of the possible serial killer.
Very good threads, and when you think you know who did it and what's going to happen next, you didn't see it coming. Unless you, like me, ended up reading a bunch of Connellys in a completely wrong order: Darkness More Than A Night was written years after this one, and it contains many of the protagonists of this book.

"Don't ever apologize to an author for buying something in paperback, or taking it out from a library (that's what they're there for. Use your library). Don't apologize to this author for buying books second hand, or getting them from bookcrossing or borrowing a friend's copy. What's important to me is that people read the books and enjoy them, and that, at some point in there, the book was bought by someone. And that people who like things, tell other people. The most important thing is that people read... "
