Any book with a cat on its cover is a must-read for me! My first book for 2011! =^-^=

I have lost count of how many times this book has made me cry. The emotions related in each paragraph were only heightened and made more real by the lyrical (sometimes even comical) choice of words used to vividly paint each picture of pain and delight and any other human emotions lodged in between.

This novel is a journey to discovering the strengths and spiritual resilience of both humans and animal alike. It is proof of how, no matter how tough and unmerciful life can be, with the right kinds of people and animal-pet around you, you will always find a way to pull through.

I especially loved the thought of how cats had this noble deed to stay with their humans until after they’re sure these bipeds can cruise through life with ease without them. They are never going to leave until they’re sure they’ve done their jobs of healing and strengthening their human’s heart and soul. That’s exactly what my aunt told me when I lost my pet cat while in the middle of reading this story. And reading those same lines in it was such a bittersweet experience that I felt connected with this book and the family in it even more.

Indeed, there is strength to be found in knowing I am not alone... And just as she did with her family, Cleo has also done her job of mending my heart ‘from her resting place under the daphne bush...’
