It took me a while to get into this one, and I doubted it would be as good as the books in O'Connell's Mallory series. I'm very glad I stuck with it, though, because the ending of this book was really stunning.
One quibble: the lead character's name was Rouge Kendall, and I had a hard time getting past a guy named "Rouge"--it was a little distracting. Still, he was a very interesting character, as was Ali Cray. O'Connell has a definite talent for creating compelling characters, even if the plots are sometimes a bit implausible.
That reminds me, I need to get my hands on a copy of Dead Famous, her latest...
