A Thousand Splendid Suns

Been wanting to read this since having read The Kite Runner which I loved...looking forward to another good story by this author.
A really good read...the book didn't have as easy a flow as his other book but still a really good story. Addresses so many issues....the value of a woman was a major one that came up for me. But also gave further insight into the way of life of this culture and the struggles they went through. The insidiousness of the Taliban - orphaned children...there is so much tragedy in this book, almost no let up it just moves from one trauma to the next....but concludes well, with fresh hope a new day a new life.
Hope this book gets registered! Releasing it on my way home to Whangarei. Not sure exactly where I will leave it but that's part of the adventure!

Thoroughly enjoyed this insight into a life that I couldn't imagine existed and couldn't imagine living in. Great story telling, couldn't put it down. Will look at Afghanistan differently from now on. Now want to read the Kite Runner. Have passed this book onto my husband, who then passed it on to my boss, who will release it.
