Atmospheric and descriptive writing, really enjoyed this.

I like a bit of Australiana so picked this up at the meet.

Densely descriptive, lyrical language, but I found it surprisingly hard going for such a short book (although that may just have been me losing focus and having to reread passages or even whole pages). Overall somewhat melancholy in tone.
I feel like there will be other readers that will love this, but others that won't get on with it at all, for example I'm not even going to pass this one to my mum.

Really enjoyed this book.
Set over one day in the life of a trvelling show in Australia in the middle years of the 20th century.
Loved the descriptions of the countryside and weather and became invested in the characters. I just wanted it all to turn out well in the end.
