Birthday gift from my brother-in-law! I really enjoyed The Tenant of Wildfell Hall; I know this isn't considered to be as revolutionary but I think I will like it too.
I have been reading this verrrrry slowly. I'm finding it to be pretty dull, to be honest. Nowhere near the page-turner that I found in Tenant of Wildfell Hall!
I've kept this in my permanent collection just because it was by a Bronte, but since I didn't actually love this book I'm going to set it free. It's not a bad read - an account of a governess's trials and tribulations. She doesn't have an easy time but the narrative still manages to be gentle, and all ends well. I don't think there are any themes here that aren't addressed MUCH better in Tenant of Wildfell Hall, which will remain in my permanent collection forever, but it's definitely worth reading.
