This book came out of a box of books that I was given, especially for Bookcrossing, by a friend. I will read it myself and then I will pass it on for someone else to read.
Review found at FantasticFiction:
The children disappear from an outwardly ideal family, their mother's past is raked up and a terrible pattern seems to be set.

She changed her name, dyed her hair, and left California for the windswept peace of Cape Cod. Now remarried, she has two more beloved children, and the terrible pain has begun to heal -- until the morning when she looks in the backyard for her little boy and girl and finds only one red mitten. A very good read, but by page 132 I had worked out the identity of the murderer of Nancy's first two children!
From there on, several people came up with clues as to who had kidnapped the second two children, but no one put two and two together! That was really annoying me, but all in all I enjoyed the book.
I am now going to send this book on to nikel27 as part of the 'stick or twist' rabck. She didn't want the first book which was sent to me for that rabck, and I don't blame her as it wasn't all that interesting. So now I thought I would choose a smallish book so that I can send it together with a wishlist book..
